About this poster:
Susan. B Anthony was arrested for voting in the 1872 Presidential Election. She was tried and issued sentence of having to pay $100. According to An Account of the Proceedings on the Trial of Susan B. Anthony on the Charge of Illegal Voting (1874), she responded with this old revolutionary maxim, that has been attributed to various people including Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, William Tyndale, and Simon Bradstreet. She never paid the fine.
